RU Music London first recorded a basic demo version of this song during lockdown in London in May 2020 after worldwide reaction to the killing of George Floyd.
Sung by its lyricist, a woman of colour, challenged by the emotions and personal reflection of how the world is feeling, the hope is that it resonates in human hearts, minds and voices against racism.

The release of this studio recording, completed under socially distanced measures, coincides with the commemorative weekend 57 years ago during which Dr Martin Luther King delivered his ‘I have a dream...’ speech.

In August 2020, the London Community Gospel Choir was contacted and considered pinpointing a suitable artist for the song at a future recording project stage.

In September 2020, 'Raise Our Voices' was submitted to BBC Introducing for their playlists.

On 31st January 2021, the track contributed to Racial Justice Sunday 2021 events with CBCEW
